Establishing Support or Visitation
Essex County, Massachusetts Paternity Law Attorney
The Law Offices of David M. Gabriel & Associates represents either party in paternity actions, asserting the mother's rights to financial support or establishing the father's rights to visitation or shared custody.
Parents who never married have all of the same custody rights and financial obligations under Massachusetts law as parents who are divorced. I am an experienced family law attorney who can arrange DNA testing and guide you through the court process to exercise your rights. Call my offices in Beverly, Lynn or Salem to set up a consultation.
Establishing Paternity
Genetic marker testing (a blood test) can quickly resolve the question of whether an individual is indeed the father.
- If you are challenging a paternity claim, I can arrange a DNA test to prove you are not the father.
- If you are the mother, we can get the court to compel a paternity test (if necessary). If the test results are positive, I can help establish orders for child support, medical insurance, day care and other financial provisions. I can also represent you in fighting attempts for custody/visitation if you have evidence
- If you are asserting that you are the father, I can set up a test to prove it, and initiate family court proceedings to determine the amount of visitation (or seek shared or sole custody).
- If you are married but believe that the child you are raising may not be yours, your options may be limited — you need experienced legal counsel.
I have handled hundreds of paternity cases. My goal is to advance or protect the rights of my clients in line with the best interests of the child.
